Venice 1915-1918. Images of the city during the war
Curated by Camillo Tonini and Claudio Franzini, the exhibition is open to the public from the 16th of December 2008 until the 20th of April 2009 in the Venice seat of Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia, in Campo San Luca, at normal opening hours to the public.
It has been realised thanks to the joint efforts of Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia and Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia that has made available all the exhibited pieces that come from their vast historical and photographic funds and from the Museum collections. There is also a wealth of activities for schools, which are organised by Artemisia.
The exhibition is divided into four sections:
- Venice, a city in the army: describes the singularity of the defensives strategies, especially anti-aircraft, as well as the difficult life during that period.
- Venice, a city to save: documents the complex activity of protecting the jewels of the city from the bombs.
- Venice, a wounded city: illustrates all the attacks that the city suffered
- Venice and the victory: describe the end of the war and the celebration for the victory
