The work, described as one of the
greatest masterpieces of the composer from Catania, tells of a love plot set in
a Swiss village at a time unspecified. It was commissioned by Duke Litta in
Milan and first performed in 1831 in Milan gaining immediately a great success,

The director
Pier Luigi Pizzi,
who also designs costumes
