REDEEMER FEAST 2023
The feast of the Redentore, which means “Redeemer”, is celebrated every year to commemorate the end of the plague epidemic that occurred in Venice between 1575 and 1577 and this year will be celebrated on Sunday, July 16. It is one of the most famous Venetian festivities and consists: in the opening of the votive bridge that connects Venice to the Church of the Redeemer, on the island of Giudecca, in the famous fireworks display on Saturday evening in the Basin of San Marco, in the “Regate of the Redeemer”, and at the end of the Holy Mass on Sunday evening, to be held in the Church of the Redeemer.
This famous festival is unique in its kind and combines the religious aspect, and the spectacular aspect of the city, which is decorated with balloons and garlands. Every year it attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the best times to visit the city.
